Flavor Experience

This is a bold Indonesian coffee with a cleaner edge.

Unlike heavier Indonesian coffees, this one stays balanced and clean.

Flavor Comparison

This coffee is similar to other Indonesian coffees known for full body and earthy depth, but with a cleaner and more refined finish. If you enjoy coffees like Sumatra or other Indonesian origins but want less heaviness and more clarity, this East Java is a great fit.

Why Air Roasted Coffee?

Rebel Roaster Coffee uses hot air roasting instead of traditional drum roasting. This helps reduce the heavy smoke and bitterness often associated with Indonesian coffees, allowing the natural chocolate and fruit notes to come through more clearly.

Origin & Story

This coffee is grown in the fertile volcanic soils of East Java near the Ijen volcano, an area known for its rare “blue fire” phenomenon, an electric blue glow caused by ignited sulfuric gases visible at night. One of only two volcanoes worldwide that glow blue fire.

The rich volcanic soil and high elevation contribute to the depth and character of this coffee. The beans are carefully selected through a triple picking process, ensuring only high-quality cherries are used, resulting in a cleaner and more consistent cup.

Who This Coffee Is For?

  • Fans of bold, full-bodied coffee
  • French press and drip coffee drinkers
  • Espresso drinkers who like chocolate-forward profiles
  • Anyone who enjoys Indonesian coffees but wants a cleaner finish
